Recovered Pegasus R4 with 4 dead drives

on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 04:41

I just recovered a Promise Pegasus R4 NAS that was showing all drives dead after a power failure.  I couldn't believe that all the drives were dead?  It took me a while to track down this simple resolution.

Thanks Joachim Vansteelant!

Why doesn't Promise have any documentation on this?  Plenty of people seem to have this issue.

Drupal Module Idea - Architect Suite

on Wed, 10/17/2012 - 17:46

When I first entered Drupal, Dries stated goal was to kill the webmaster.

"Frankly, we already eliminated the webmaster."
Dries -

With that accomplished, Dries moved on to killing the web developer.

"Next is to eliminate the web developer and to make online publishing even more accessible."
Dries -

Many in the community believe this is already happening and mostly complete.

In my effort to out think Dries, I'm going to try and ellimate the Drupal architect with my highly

DrupalCorn Camp 2012

on Wed, 10/17/2012 - 17:07

I'm co-chairing DrupalCorn Camp 2012 with John Rearick. This is going to be an awesome event. I'll be leading a pre-camp training day course designed to throw new users up over the learning curve deep into Drupal construction titled, "Drupal in a Day". It's time to register for the camp so you can "Get Your Corn On!"

I'm also planning on presenting a BoF; 45 modules in 45 minutes. If you need to learn the key contributed modules and can keep up with an auctioneer style presentation you'll love this!

Drupal Developer Rates - What is concerning with off-shore?

on Wed, 10/17/2012 - 16:57

The Drupal ecosystem needs more developers in all skill ranges. There are more sites to be built than their are qualified developers to build them. This is a critical bottleneck in the growth and adoption of Drupal into the enterprise and other.

Best Day Ever - removing the most invasive species in North America

on Wed, 10/17/2012 - 16:43

Tore up sod (the most invasive species on the planet).

- What a bunch of stupid symbiots we are.
- consider yearly cost (direct and indirect): seed, fertilizer, aeration, gasoline, lawn mower, file to sharpen blade, string trimmer, sting, edger.
- Plus I have to mow once a week during peek summer. Good thing Ethanol is subsidized in this state. 89 octane is cheaper than 87. But thats is another rant.

- I set up four borrowed pallets and created a bin. I currently have 3 bins. Throw the sod in the bin. The sod roots and stems die within a year and the soil can be returned within a year but best to what two years to be sure.
